Haskell Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art (Requisition No: D-24-UAM-00004)

The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the next Haskell Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art. The Curator will shape the care, display, interpretation, and growth of the Museum's collections of global modern and contemporary art. As the Museum prepares to open a dramatically reconceived new building in 2025, the Curator will lead modern and contemporary collections galleries, exhibitions, publications, and acquisitions at a time of unprecedented growth.

With responsibility for the Museum's collections and activities in postwar art with a particular focus on global contemporary art, the Curator will also collaborate with curators from a range of collections areas to support art after 1913. Regularly teaching undergraduates and participating in guest teaching is expected, in addition to broader efforts to engage with the collections among faculty, students, and other communities. Substantial purchase endowments allow the Curator to build the collections intentionally. As a member of the University's Campus Art Steering Committee, the Curator will lead curatorial planning for art commissions for the campus. Working within a team environment, they will partner with conservators and educators, supervise research assistants, and mentor interns and students, with meaningful support for research travel. The Curator will be attuned to dynamic changes in the museum field, will embrace the possibilities of a public-facing campus-based museum, and will communicate effectively with scholarly and broad audiences.

Collections Systems Specialist (Requisition 2024-19476)

The Collections Systems Specialist is responsible for the analysis, manipulation, and integration of the complex cultural heritage datasets residing primarily in two Museum systems of record: the collections information system - The Museum System (TMS) and the digital asset management system - ResourceSpace. The position is responsible for database management and backend support for both systems, including data extraction, data batching, report writing, and advanced SQL query development. The position is also responsible for the integration of data among TMS, the Museum's API, and ResourceSpace, with the potential for additional integrations with other systems, including but not limited to the Museum’s website CMS, Airtable, and OnBase. Other areas of responsibility include the documentation of all related data extraction and integrations, logs and quality assurance monitoring, and periodic system upgrades to TMS and ResourceSpace.

Working in a team environment for the department of Communication and Information, the CSS will report to the Sr. Manager of Data Operations and work in close coordination with the Manager of Art Information and their team, the Museum Application developers, and other staff members across the Museum.

Campus Art Project Manager (Requisition 2024-19524)
The Princeton University Art Museum welcomes applications for the position of Campus Art Project Manager. Reporting to the Senior Manager, of Museum Projects & Strategic Initiatives, and supporting the work and leadership of the Campus Art Steering Committee (co-chaired by the Art Museum Director and the University Architect), the position will project manage the care of existing campus art collections, the process of commissioning and otherwise acquiring new works of campus art, conduct an annual inventory and condition review of the works, and oversee their installation and de-installation in a variety of settings beyond the Museum.

Audience Engagement Specialist (Requisition 2024-19821)
The Audience Engagement Specialist (AES) will work with local community groups and organizations, as well as University partners to collaborate on the development of mutually beneficial programming on campus and in local community spaces.  The AES will support the Museum’s efforts to nurture strategic and sustainable partnerships with neighborhood and community development groups, city agencies, Princeton University programs, local nonprofit organizations, libraries, schools, and other civic institutions.  They will collaborate with these partners to develop, implement, and evaluate inclusive programs designed to generate dialogue and provide meaningful and transformational engagement with the visual arts.  The AES will spend time outside of the Museum/office and in the local communities—participating in events, building relationships, and listening.  The AES will manage a range of public programs. This position will require a flexible work schedule including most Thursday evenings and frequent weekends.

Annual Support Associate (Requisition 2024-19995)

Reporting to the Manager of Individual Giving, the Annual Support Associate is a development administrative professional. The Annual Support Associate will be responsible for all membership gift processing, including accurate and timely membership data entry and fulfillment; updating and maintaining membership records; generating the mailing of all membership renewal and appeal letters; providing excellent customer service via phone and email to current and prospective members; and assisting the manager with all membership communications, including acknowledgment letters.

The annual support associate will assist with and/or coordinate benefit fulfillment activities and events; field membership-related inquiries in writing, by phone, and in person; and, in collaboration with the Manager of Individual Giving and the Development Operations team, identify current and potential members with capacity for increased giving. 

This position will assist the Manager with the Museum’s annual appeal campaigns, including all related mailings and digital strategies, gift entry, and acknowledgments. 

This is a one year term position with benefits and the possibility of extension.

Research Assistant- Temporary (Requisition 2024-20052)

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks an exceptional Research Assistant for a position beginning in December through June 2025. They will report to the Curator of Photography and work one to two days per week with the Curator to assist with in-depth and exploratory research on a forthcoming exhibition. Responsibilities include assisting with in-depth and exploratory research on a forthcoming exhibition at the intersection of care, feminism, and labor.

Research Assistant- Temporary (Requisition 2024-20053)

The Princeton University Art Museum seeks a part-time Research Assistant for a position beginning in January through June 2025. They will report to the Nancy and Peter Lee Curator of Asian Art and will work with the Curator to assist with research on Ming and Qing dynasty paintings in the Princeton collection.

The Research Assistant will help catalogue Ming and Qing dynasty paintings in the collection, do in-depth research on a selection of the objects, as well as transcribe and translate inscriptions. The RA will also conduct research on the broader field of Ming-Qing painting history following the Curator’s direction.

Approximately 10 hours per week. This position is temporary.

Development Associate - Temporary (Requisition 2024-20144)
The Art Museum seeks a 9–12 month temporary Development Associate in the Art Museum’s development department. The position will initially be 80% effort (M – Th), moving to full-time. Reporting to the Systems Analyst, the Development Associate is an integral member of the Museum’s development team. This position is responsible for ensuring the integrity of the data, timely processing of gifts, and management of data extraction, including list segmentation and reporting, providing financial analysis, and reporting to help inform strategy and data-driven decision-making. They will also provide excellent customer service via phone and email to current and prospective members. They will assure the fulfillment of membership and donor benefits; update and maintain records to support growing and leveraging relationships. They coordinate with the Museum's business office and the University's Office of Gift Records to process and accurately record all membership, gala, and annual support gifts.
