Princeton University Art Museum Summer Academy

A student looks at Monet's Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge.Join us for a three-week program designed to provide high school students from Trenton Central and Ewing High Schools with the opportunity to learn about careers in art museums and the visual arts while working with mentors, artists, and professionals from Princeton University and the surrounding region. Students will explore themes related to identity, power, and social justice through close engagement with original works of art. The program will culminate in a capstone project providing students the opportunity to create a work of art, poem, musical piece, or other creative expression, which will be exhibited or shared during a closing celebration.

Who should apply?

Rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who enjoy looking at, talking about, and making art. You don’t need prior experience or specific knowledge of art or art history to apply. 

When and where?

The program will take place on the Princeton University Campus. 

The program dates and times are as follows: 

  • July 15–August 2, 2024  

  • Monday–Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

Is there a cost?

This program is free. There is no fee to apply to the program and if selected, there is no fee to participate in the program.

How do I get to the Museum?

Transportation from Trenton Central High School and Ewing High School will be provided at no cost. 

How do I apply?

  • Apply through the online application form 

  • Interviews will take place at the Conference Center at Mercer County Community College on April 10, 16, and 17, 2024. Students selected for an interview will be notified by April 3, 2024.
